Top Tips for a Website that Works for YOU

If your website isn’t getting enough traffic or you want more sales, this blog is for YOU.

Here are a few very important tips I’ve learned over the years that will help you get your website working harder for you:

1)  Make it easy for customers to contact you.  I see a majority of sites that don’t have the business phone, address and email on the home page.  Web guests have to go to a Contact Us page, orwebsite that works worse, fill out a long form to get ahold of someone that can help them.  Being easily accessible to your clients builds trust, is a great start to a good working relationship and tells them that you’ll be there to help solve their problems or add value to their lives.  It also tells your customers that you’ll be there to support them.

2)  Create a user interface that makes it easy for your visitors to find what they want.  We help our Lake Tahoe Truckee area website customers map out an easy to navigate sitemap – less clicks to get what we want = more sales.  Properly placed internal links can also help people easily navigate your site.  Also, it’s a great idea to optimize the photo size on your site so your web pages load quickly.  People are so busy these days, a delay can turn away a visitor.

3)  Write interesting, valuable, funny, problem solving content regularly.  A blog is a great way to achieve this (hopefully this is a good example).  Also you can add to or update your pages as appropriate.  This will keep people coming back to your site and ideally bookmarking your site and sharing your URL links with their friends.  Encourage your site visitors to add comments or add questions.  Answering frequently asked questions on your site is great for your visitors and saves you time.  This blog was a result of several clients asking how to improve their website’s effectiveness.

4)  You have 3-7 seconds to grab a new visitors’ attention and get them to read more … here is a homepage model including the key components for your homepage:

  • The top of your page should have a HOOK – “Do You Suffer From ________? or “Want to Learn How to Get More ________ in your life?”
  • Then a sentence showing them you understand where they are coming from and what they want.
  • you might want to include a 30 second video welcoming them to your business and telling them what’s in it for them.
  • Followed by results they can achieve, potential benefits and the emotional shift that may occur for them when they hire you or buy your products.
  • Now it’s time to tell them what they need to do to get help or allow you to add value to their lives … a clear call to action such as …
